Things going well. Placement is going well, and had a good time strolling aorund Melbourne yesterday for Aquisitions and Children's Lit.
Placement at the Public Records Office is interesting. Part of my job is in digitization, and this means taking original records and typing the original information into spreadsheets. In my case it's post-war immigration applications from Britain. I saw one record in which the nominator (or 'sponsor') would only continue to endorse his nephew's immigration application if he "shed all communistic tendencies" prior to emmigration.
The archive itself (themself) is impressive. 14 million records in 2 million boxes, I'm told. The archive room is about 100m by 50m (width is hard to determine - no clear sightline) and there are two such rooms!
